Although I grew up under humble conditions with a single mom and two younger sisters, and although we didn’t really have the money to feed my interest in photography and art, I am grateful for the resources and opportunities I now have to explore, enjoy and hopefully, enrich the lives of others through them.  I love capturing images and moments through a camera’s lens, especially when I have the chance to hit the beach, which since moving from the coast of North Carolina to the north, is only an occasional treat.  I also love studying the Bible, so I am thrilled that I can combine both loves through this blog.  Although most of the images on this blog are mine, the primary purpose of this blog is to share what I am learning concerning spiritual things, including putting off legalism and religious traditions and embracing God’s amazing grace and mercy.

I don’t post everyday, but in May 2013 I did start a series called Wisdom Wednesday, in which I set a proverb or wise saying from the Bible alongside a proverb or wise saying from other cultures.  It’s a project I’d been wanting to do for a couple of years, because I can certainly use more wisdom, and I’ve found that hearing or reading something differently can help gain a new perspective.

In October 2014, after being involved with the cover design of a firefighting novel, I became a volunteer firefighter and an EMT the following spring.  Needless to say, those involvements have taken up a lot of time, so my posts have become more sporadic, although I hope I can find a sweet spot to keep writing through this transition in life.
